How to tell if your dog is sick! | Symptoms and signs

As dogs cannot speak, it is up to us to determine whether or not they are sick or if they are facing a problem. One way to do it is by closely examining your dog on a regular basis.

Normally, it isn’t that hard to tell when your dog is sick as the symptoms are quite noticeable. However, sometimes, the disease begins at a moderate stage before turning into something serious. During the starting phase of a disease, your dog may show signs that to you, might seem normal, but they could be an indication that something serious is going on.

Symptoms that your canine may be sick

One of the most important signs is that if your dog, who is generally social, starts hiding. If they start sitting in dark places or are hiding, it could be a sign of something serious. Hence, take your dog to a vet to rule out any medical complications.

Another thing is if your dog is drinking too much water. In summers, animals tend to drink more water than normal due to the heat but if they are drinking too much water in one go, rule out any possibility of diabetes or kidney disease.

Again, another sign is if your dog is excessively licking itself and can’t seem to stop. If your dog licks the floor or its mouth numerous times, it could be a gastrointestinal issue.

Lethargy is a big indication of disease. If your dog has started to sleep more than usual, then it is essential that you get it checked. Something is not quite right with them if they have started being lazy from being active.

Dental health, like the change in color of gums, also needs medical attention.
All in all, if your dog starts doing something it won’t normally do, it is best to take it to a vet to ensure there is no medical reason behind it.
